One of the most obvious opportunities for lubricant waste reduction is grease. Many companies re-apply grease on haul trucks or in other applications frequently, and those trucks then operate in harsh conditions such as exposure to water and dirt. Combined, this can lead to unnecessary waste and leakage.
As one Nevada mine found out firsthand, more advanced grease technologies can reduce how often you need to re-grease equipment, particularly their haul trucks, resulting in significant benefits.
Their maintenance staff collaborated with the Mobil™ engineering team to conduct an Advanced Lubrication Investigation.
After conducting the investigation, the Mobil™ team recommended a more cost-effective grease product that was also better equipped to handle wet operating conditions, high sliding and high temperatures associated with the truck’s operating conditions.
After making the switch, the grease stayed in place better and required less re-greasing, helping to improve equipment reliability and eliminate more than 32,500 pounds of annual waste deposit.
